Texas A&M had to offer five-star California linebacker Justin Flowe. You can’t win if you don’t buy a ticket, right?

The Aggies might be looking at a steep uphill battle to recruit him amid the field of other programs that has been in the picture with him, but players as explosive and athletic as Flowe don’t grow on trees. The internet has no shortage of videos of him making some kind of eye-popping hit on unfortunate offensive players but even he came to last weekend’s Adidas West Coast 7v7 Invitational with things he was looking to improve on.

“It went pretty good,” he said of the tournament. “I was working on my coverage and everything, going up against the best of the best.”

The prior weekend, Flowe made visits to Auburn, Clemson, Georgia and Kentucky. If the Wildcats are really in the discussion, surely there could be a spot for A&M, right?

“I like them all,” he said. “I like all the SEC schools. They’re different from the ones out here.”

The Aggies offered Flowe at the end of last spring, but of the Texas schools that have been recruiting him, it seems as though the Longhorns have built a bit more of a foundation. Flowe said that he plans to visit Texas next month but didn’t rule out packaging that with a stop at A&M if things work out that way.

Although Flowe wasn’t overly expressive with his relationship to the Aggies, it bodes well for the staff that one of its top recruiters could also be Flowe’s potential position coach.

“I’ve been talking to Coach [Bradley Dale] Peveto and he’s pretty cool,” he said. “We’re really cool. I’ll most likely take a visit out there … He’s just a pretty good guy.”

Flowe was rocking Florida Gators clothes and gear during the tournament, but likely has similar apparel for any number of other programs he might choose to sport as he sees fit. Aggies fans wouldn’t mind seeing what he looks like in maroon and he said if the effort from the staff is there, that could very well become a reality sometime in the near future.

“I’m just looking for them to keep the relationship going and make sure we’re talking all the time,” he said. “I’m going to go out there to check out the school and see how the vibe is out there and see how the education is.”
